Arena Theatre … here we come

"Podium Finish  ...".

Waking at 4.30 am through the Christmas and New Year period has much to do with our new performance project Podium Finish.  This morning was no exception and the times and dates on the dna3d ‘rehearsal pod’ blog will show 26 entries between 5 and 5.30am this morning.  This is because the outline of the project and what is behind the new piece, a piece that takes the 26.2 miles of a marathon as the backbone of the piece.   I don’t want to say too much just yet, but researching beats per minute, stride patterns and strides per minute were the focus of yesterdays thinking and planning and obviously somewhere in the unconscious ‘stuff’ was going on, and it all emerged at 4.30am!  The cats thought it was breakfast time, so were greatly disappointed when all I did was get out of bed to fetch the laptop, in order to capture thoughts, ideas and more thoughts and ideas.  We start in the studio tomorrow with a full days rehearsal, beginning work on this piece – I always have a sense of dread and wanting to ‘get on with it’ at this point in the process.  I certainly have done a lot of thinking, research and planning over the festive break so I am sure something will emerge from tomorrow.
