Background/History

dna3d dance design digital was established in 2007 by Dennie Wilson as a result of 20 years experience working as a performance maker, as well as a part-time lecturer in both vocation dance and higher education.

Originally a professional dancer and then choreographer with a driving interest in collaborative practice, Dennie worked on projects which resulted in fascinating performances with established artists working in music & technology, new media, jewellery, parkour, film and production. Teaching also brought Dennie into contact with talented emerging dancers.

This combination of working opportunities led to the development of dna3d dance design digital; a company which brings experienced and emerging artists together to work alongside each other; a place that facilitates the exchange of experience and ideas.

Since 2007 dna3d has evolved from working on intermittent projects to working on a regular ongoing basis. There are a number of strands to our work including:

• Performance design and production
• Event and project management
• Education and community projects

Recent projects include ‘Fleet Feet - Dance and Film Project : Artists in Residence Perry Barr,’ the Opening Ceremony for World Wheelchair Basketball Championships, National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, and Sing 2011 at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

dna3d ‘emerging artists’ come from universities and vocational colleges based in Birmingham and the West Midlands Region. dna3d associate artists are based across the country.
