Celebrate : Collaboration with Birmingham Royal Ballet

Following the success of the dna3d artist in residency project Fleet Feet last year in Perry Barr and coupled Birmingham Royal Ballet becoming Arts Champions for the area during 2012,  Pearl Chesterman ( director of  Birmingham Royal Ballet department of learning) and Dennie Wilson (dna3d) put their heads together and devised a project called 'Celebrate.' Celebrate: A celebration through dance and film of the contribution seniors in our community make to society. A dance and film project exploring celebratory stories of the participants and presenting them in dance form based on the traditional ways stories are told through ballet. Through out January, February and March of 2012, dna3d working in partnership with Birmingham Royal Ballet, will deliver workshops in 3 different centres across the Perry Barr Constituency, that introduce all aspects of the ballet including music, design and story telling.  The outcome of these workshops will be a short dance film celebrating stories and achievements which will be shown at a social event within the constituency. It is the intention that each participant will have a copy of the film and that it can be shown at some of the many celebratory events happening in 2012, with the Olympic and cultural Olympiad celebrations and Jamaica 50.
